- Departure from Ruse at 02:00, from Razgrad at 03:00 Passing through the Lesovo border checkpoint and the Hamzabeyli border checkpoint. Arrival in the old Ottoman capital Edirne at 10:00.
1. Edirne Located in the valley where the rivers Maritsa and Tundzha stretch, on the border with Bulgaria and Greece, which in the 18th century was one of the seven largest cities in Europe. It was built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian and named it after himself Adrianople. During the division of the Roman Empire into Eastern and Western it was conquered by the Byzantines, but Sultan Murad I annexed it to the Ottoman Empire in 1361. Nowadays the city is a museum with its own: the Selimiye Mosque – built on a hill in the city center by the famous architect Mimar Sinan in classical Ottoman style by order of Sultan Selim II (1569 -1575).
2. The Old Mosque – the oldest Ottoman building built in the period 1403 – 1414 by Mehmet I. and its interior is calligraphically inscribed with quotations from the Qur’an.
3. The Museum of Health – At the end of the 15th century, Bayezid II commissioned architect Hayretin to build a complex in Edirne, which has a mosque, a hospital, a kitchen and storage rooms, the most important being the hospital. The place where music and fragrance treatment was applied for the first time and the only place for its time where mentally ill people were treated.
